ABOUT the UUCC of WASHINGTON COUNTY

What we offer

Chartered in 1987 with a full-time minister, our lively suburban congregation boasts full religious education for children and adults, an active youth group, a choir, and many different social action projects and social events.

Purpose

Our mission statement—Build a Better World—reflects our desire to be a liberal presence in the community, and our determination to improve the environment, the welfare and education of children, and the political decision-making processes in Washington County, Oregon and the world at large.

Community

We also provide a community with a sense of place and belonging for our members. Through our many committees, interest groups, and weekly worship services, newcomers quickly come to feel they are valued members of the congregation. We look forward to new members bringing their unique interests, opinions, and skills to help us grow in diversity as well as in size.

Welcoming Congregation

Our church is an official UUA Welcoming Congregation. This means we welcome all community members, including bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender people. For more information about the UUA Welcoming Congregations, visit the UUA website: www.uua.org.

Religious Education

Religious education plays a prominent role in the life of our congregation with a variety of classes and activities for all age groups.

About our building

Our permanent home in Washington County is the former Orenco Presbyterian Church, a local landmark for nearly 100 years. We look forward to becoming a part of our new community and helping preserve a part of Washington County history.

100 Questions That Non-Members Ask About Unitarian Universalists

UUism is a creedless religion—that is, our deeds speak louder than our words—so it may be easier to understand UUism as a living faith by noting the individuals who have been associated with UUism.  Some famous UUs may be found here.

UUCC is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalists Association (UUA). You may find information there as well.
