LITERACY
Monday evenings, 7-9pm, March 17, 24, 31 and April
7
Parish House, Fireplace Room
Cost: $10
To read and know the sacred in
everyday life, we have to develop new qualities of mind and heart, qualities
that open us to the presence of the spiritual within all aspects of existence.
No moment, no thing is to be excluded. But like any other kind of reading,
reading the sacred requires an alphabet. We’ll look at parts of this alphabet to
get us practicing spiritual literacy, with a focus on Enthusiasm, Forgiveness,
Gratitude and Hospitality. We’ll watch a short video presentation on the topic
and then discuss our impressions and questions. You can find out more about this
series at spiritualliteracy.com, which provides the discussion questions to
match the alphabet topics. If you have questions you may contact the
facilitators: Carole McAdams, (503)644-0410, and Greta Kopec,
(503)285-8884.
This 4-week class is "Part 2" of the
Practicing Spiritual Literacy series. Anyone is welcome, whether you have
participated in Part 1 or not. Sign up at the ARE desk downstairs.

Mission & Goals
The Adult Religious Enrichment (ARE) Committee coordinates adult classes, workshops, and events at UUCC. Our purpose is to create and sustain a program of spiritual and personal exploration and learning that will both support the mission of the church and enhance the life of the adult members and friends of our church. We plan and provide various Unitarian Universalist based courses throughout the church year, with other classes or activities determined and scheduled as interest, time and resources permit.
We encourage you to contact us if you have questions, if you have an idea for an adult religious enrichment class or activity, or if you would like to become an ARE facilitator or member of the ARE Committee.
