RE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

About the Program

The RE program for children and youth is run simultaneously with our morning service.
The Parish House is located at 1340 NW 228th Ave. Senior High and Young Youth meet at the Parish House.

Attendance

Attendance is important! Our teachers plan their lessons to build on previous lessons. While we understand that everyone will miss a Sunday occasionally, we ask that families make every effort to attend regularly. Please keep in mind that the curriculum will provide the best experience for your child if regular attendance is sustained.

2007–2008 Program Fees

Supply fees for the program year (September - August) are:

  • $30.00 per child
  • $75.00 maximum per family per year

It is requested that the fees be paid for the year at the time of registration. No child will be denied enrollment due to lack of fees. Please contact the D.R.E. if financial arrangements need to be made. R.E. Teachers who commit to lead an entire pillar receive a one-child fee waiver for the year. (Only one fee waiver per family.)

Parental Involvement

Our Religious Education program is a cooperative program with each parent or caregiver of an enrolled child giving their help. Help may include teaching, class helper, and driving on field trips, to name a few. Each pillar will have one or two lead teachers who commit for that time period to prepare the lessons and provide continuity in the classroom. They will be assisted by rotating helpers who are scheduled at the beginning of each pillar. Teachers (and helpers) will be asked to come to an orientation session on August 26th. At this time we will discuss the program and share resources available to teachers. Teaching teams will be asked to meet periodically during the year and prior to the beginning of each pillar.

Safe Church Policy

UUCCWC and the CaYRE program welcome all children and youth and their families. We encourage all members of the congregation to volunteer with the children and youth as they are willing and able. Because we value the special circle of trust that we have created here, we require all adult volunteers who work with children and youth to consent for criminal background check and sign a code of ethics. We accept the responsibility to educate ourselves and our children about sexual misconduct, abuse, molestation, harassment and exploitation. We pledge to conduct ourselves in a manner that conveys mutual respect. If you have any questions about this, please contact Sara Cloe, Director of Religious Education.
