UU the Vote
Rev. Denise Cawley, UUCCWC Worship Team, UUCCWC JUST Act & Pacific UU Fellowship (PUUF)
The order of service can be found here.
Thank you to Rev. Denise Cawley, Our Worship Team, JUST-Act, and Pacific UU Fellowship (PUUF) for contributing to bringing this service to our congregations. We are participating in this denomination wide event with leaders throughout our denomination and special musical guests.
In the midst of global pandemic, rising authoritarianism, and uprising, lives hang in the balance and the future of democracy is on the line. In response, Unitarian Universalists are answering the call of our faith, building powerful partnerships to mobilize our communities to #VoteLove and #DefeatHate in the 2020 elections. Join UUA President Susan Frederick-Gray, the UU the Vote team, and a lineup of powerful, prophetic UU voices as we explore the intersections of faith, justice, and democracy in this collective virtual service.
Following this Sunday’s moving UUA prepared #VoteLove and #DefeatHate service, Jane Hogue and Anne Dale, coordinators of the Reclaim Our Vote/UU the Vote postcard project, will facilitate a ZOOM discussion in the main room. To have a lively discussion in which all may speak, we encourage use of the raised hand function. The service will run a little over an hour so we can incorporate our valued Joys and Concerns.
Please join Jane and Anne to share your ideas for building a new world through UUCCWC collective, effective, sustained actions and community partnerships now and after the election. In keeping with the Seven Principles and to honor our ancestors who labored and fought for freedom, whatever scenarios surround the election, we want to protect our democracy, the worth and dignity of every person, justice and equity and an abundant future for all on our planet. “We believe in the motive force of love.”
Should UUCCWC have an unexpected interruption or intrusion to our service, the service will immediately shut down. Please log back in after a couple of minutes for the continuation of our service.
For those unfamiliar with Zoom, joining is easy –
- Just click the Zoom link on your favorite device with Video (a laptop or desktop monitor works best) –
- If you’ve never used Zoom before, you’ll be guided to quickly install the Zoom app, before joining the service
- Once in the Service meeting, select Computer audio and start your Video
- Note: important controls (location may change per your device)
- Bottom task bar (hover your mouse at the bottom to see) – Start your Video on the left
- Top (also hover your mouse) – Select your screen mode: default is usually “Speaker” (recommended) or select “Gallery”
- See the UUCCWC Guide to using Zoom! This can be found here.
- If you want to test your device in advance – use this link on your selected device: zoom.us/test
Your best screen mode is “Speaker”, this way, whoever is speaking during the service will be shown.
When you join the Service, you will be muted (and cannot unmute) – this is to control accidental interruptions.
This Sunday’s Coffee Hour feature breakout rooms! At the end of the service, you will be randomly assigned (by Zoom) to one of the breakout rooms and invited to join it. You can accept the invitation to join the “smaller” breakout room, or stay in the “main room” if you don’t accept. You can also leave the breakout room at any time by clicking on the “Leave Breakout Room” button. We hope to create smaller Coffee Hour groups, making conversations easier.
Also, the REST Committee will continue to host Family Coffee Hour 10 minutes after the worship service. Please log into Zoom2 account https://zoom.us/j/3180120000.
Please join as you are able for coffee and refreshments from the luxury of your home. Connect, catch up, most of all have fun! Hope to see you there.
