Community Outreach
Youth and Adults preparing food packages at Oregon Food Bank as part of their community outreach ministry
Unitarian Universalists believe it is important to help shape a more just, equitable, and compassionate world for all life. We aspire to live out this goal through engagement in local community outreach such as volunteering at the Family Promise Homeless Shelter in Hillsboro where we work directly with homeless families.
Additional we embody our values by sharing our Sunday offering with six charities throughout the year. These charities are democratically selected by the congregation each year, and each charity is featured as part of the Sunday offering for two months during the year.
The current charities are:
- Monika’s House Shelter
- Adelante Mujeres
- Family Promise
- Sexual Assault Resource Center
- National Allliance for the Mentally Ill of Washington County
- Backpack Drive
- Hats/Mittens Drive
- Mask Ministry
- JUSTice ACTion Council
- P2R (Path to Reopening)
In addition to the above congregational commitments, many of our congregants personally volunteer in a variety of additional non-profits as part of their personal outreach to our wider community.
