Children’s Religious Exploration (RE)

Mission Statement

UUCCWC’s religious exploration program for children and youth promotes the search for individual beliefs in a safe learning and loving community based upon respect for and acceptance of one’s self and others. We encourage the search process through the study of UU principles, history and values; service to the wider community; exploration of world religious and spiritual practices; rituals; and building community with fun activities.

Our Learning Communities

Nursery – Birth through age two

Pre-Kindergarten – Age 3, 4, and 5 years

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

3rd through 5th Grade

The Unitarian Universalist Association has developed award-winning religious educational programs specifically appropriate for all ages, based in liberal religious beliefs and learning to be socially responsible people.

Currently all children, except Nursery, come to worship service at 10:00am. After the first part of the service, the children leave to attend their classes. Age group classes are held in the lower-level of the church during the remainder of the worship service. If your children would be more comfortable with you in the class the first few Sundays, you are welcome to join them in their class.

Safe Church Policy

UUCCWC welcomes all children and youth and their families. We encourage all members of the congregation to volunteer with the children and youth as they are willing and able. Because we value the special circle of trust that we have created here, we require all adult volunteers who work with children and youth to consent to a criminal background check and to sign a code of ethics. As Unitarian Universalists we strive to promote the healthy development of the whole child or youth, including their ethical, moral, physical, religious and spiritual selves. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Religious Education Coordinator, Christine Hinderer.
